DMD Systems Recovery, LLC (DMD), a Reuse First™ IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) services provider, is excited to announce the acquisition of Basket Materials, a Bay Area-based ITAD company renowned for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. This acquisition strengthens DMD’s presence in Northern California, enhancing support for the Bay Area’s growing tech market and local data centers.

This expansion bolsters DMD’s capabilities, enabling broader, more efficient service to customers across the region. The integration of Basket Materials also aligns with DMD’s environmental goals, outlined in our recent Impact Report, by reducing transportation in the IT asset retirement process.

“The move to the Bay Area allows us to best support our key customers both headquartered there and with large data center footprints in nearby markets like Sacramento,” said Jon DeMent, VP of DMD. “The new site will immediately improve our ability to provide local technical support, offer more easily accessible asset inventories, and create a positive impact towards our commitment to emissions reductions by limiting the distance retired assets are transported.”

DMD will retain all Basket Materials teammates as part of the acquisition. The Bay Area facility, already R2v3 certified, will also gain NAID AAA certification, further enhancing security and compliance. This acquisition reinforces DMD’s dedication to sustainable, secure ITAD services, offering tailored solutions focused on maximizing sustainability and data protection.

“By expanding our number of sites and adding talented teammates, we're unlocking flexibility to balance workloads and consistently exceed our customer SLAs.,” said Bryan White, VP of Operations at DMD. “This growth empowers us to establish cutting-edge innovation centers, focused on optimizing ITAD processes like repair, retail sales, and enterprise lifecycle services. Imagine the possibilities as we experiment with groundbreaking ideas in one facility and then scale those successes across the entire organization. The chance to push our limits, drive new and innovative reuse strategies, and transform the industry will propel DMD even further ahead as the leading force in ITAD.”

This union of two companies with shared values marks a pivotal step forward, enhancing the scalability of DMD’s mission to protect our environment one IT asset at a time. Together, DMD and Basket Materials are positioned to service more customers across the U.S., driving impactful advancements in asset reuse and environmental responsibility.

“The combination of these two ITADs, based on common goals and values, accelerates the pace at which we bring our industry-leading services to a greater number of companies who understand Reuse First and the impact it has on our environment,” said Sara Doran, CFO of Basket Materials. “I am excited to help our organization continue educating the world on the difference between Reuse and Recycling, and more importantly, implementing programs that achieve these goals for corporations across the U.S.”

Basket Materials’ founder, Patrick Kelly, and CFO, Sara Doran, will join DMD’s leadership team, bringing expertise in technology and finance, broadening DMD’s capability to redefine reuse and sustainability standards in the industry.

“Joining with DMD is the perfect alignment with our initial vision from which we started the company,” said Patrick Kelly, Founder of Basket Materials. “Being part of DMD will enable us to develop our software, automation, and AI initiatives more quickly, serving more customers, and amplifying our impact on the world. I cannot wait to help build the ITAD of the future.”

With this acquisition, DMD continues its strategic path to growth, supported by both organic and acquisitive expansion anticipated in 2025. The company remains committed to achieving industry-leading reuse rates and ensuring assets are repurposed to their next best use—an essential step for fostering environmental responsibility and advancing the circular economy.

“Basket Materials may be a relatively new company, but they made huge progress in just a few years, establishing a certified, secure facility trusted by dozens of tech-forward and large manufacturers as the ITAD of choice. DMD will retain all teammates and look to immediately grow the team as we anticipate another year of 50% organic growth,” said Aaron Zeper, CEO of DMD. “Because we believe we are the best ITAD in the world, generating the greatest reuse rates and values, ensuring every asset goes to its next best life, we are focused on becoming the largest. Anything else would be a detriment to our environment and the circular economy. We look forward to both organic and acquisitive growth in 2025. So for any ITAD who wants to be a part of this mission, please reach out.”

With the acquisition of Basket Materials, DMD reinforces its commitment to delivering best-in-class ITAD services, creating an even stronger foundation for customer convenience, security, and sustainability in the Northern California market and beyond.
